SAD do Benfica and Luís Filipe Vieira appear in court as Emails Case advances | OneFootball

The instruction phase opens on Monday, 23 March, in a case brought by the MP, with SAD do Benfica, Vitória de Setúbal and Luís Filipe Vieira among those appearing before the court.

Record reports that the MP accuses SAD do Benfica of one count of active corruption, another of undue offer of advantage, and a further count of qualified fraud.

The proceedings stem from the Caso dos Emails, after figures linked to Porto made public emails belonging to Benfica.

Also accused is Paulo Gonçalves, a former legal adviser at Benfica. Vieira was club president during 2016 to 2019, the period in which the crimes were committed.

The report adds that, according to the investigation, club boards carried out fictitious deals and invoices were issued for expenses that had not occurred.
