Thursday’s reports claim that Milan could also be at risk of losing Alexis Saelemaekers amidst the club’s ongoing boardroom chaos, as Napoli and former Rossoneri head coach Massimiliano Allegri are said to be keen to lure the Belgian and Adrien Rabiot away from San Siro.
Milan’s mass exodus in the boardroom could lead to even more departures amongst the playing staff in a period of major uncertainty for the Serie A giants.
The club failed to qualify for the Champions League in the final weekend of the 2025-26 season, despite the fact that the team had spent much of the year in second place, and head coach Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani were all given their marching orders the day after the season ended as a result.
Now into June and with no appointments made, there have also been reports that some of Milan’s biggest star players could leave the club as well, including the likes of Luka Modric, Rafael Leao, Mike Maignan, Rabiot and now Saelemaekers, too.
Rabiot and Saelemaekers are said to be of interest to Allegri, who will take over from the recently-departed Antonio Conte as head coach of Napoli.
Saelemaekers has been on Milan’s books since 2020, but has represented three different clubs across the last three seasons. He was handed a new, long-term contract extension in December, which ties him to the Rossoneri until the summer of 2031.

Despite the club’s current lack of leaders at boardroom level, reports from Calciomercato.com claim that Milan are adamant that Saelemaekers will not leave the club to strengthen a direct rival this summer.
Napoli, meanwhile, are reportedly hoping to pull off a loan with an option to buy, which Milan are extremely reluctant to accept.
