Santos have banked a little over R$ three million after sealing a Copa Sudamericana last-16 place.
They beat Universidad Central of Venezuela in the play-off, winning both legs for an 8-3 aggregate. According to Globo.com, progression to the last 16 is worth $600,000, around R$ 3.08 million at Tuesday's rate.
They will face Macará of Ecuador next. If they advance again, the next phase could bring a further $700,000, roughly R$ 3.5 million.
Across cup competitions this season, bonuses exceed R$ 12 million, with just over R$ seven million from the Sudamericana and R$ five million from the Copa do Brasil.
With finances strained, the club view staying alive in knockout tournaments as important for prize income.
Santos have two months of image-rights payments outstanding to the squad. FIFA has imposed a transfer ban over a debt to Monaco linked to midfielder Jean Lucas, and overall debt is above R$ 1 billion.
