Santos ended two barren runs with a 2-0 victory at Coritiba, sealing a place in the Copa do Brasil last 16.
Bontempo and Adonis Frías scored at Couto Pereira. According to Diario Do Peixe, the club did not take part in the 2024 competition and went out in the 2025 third round.
It was Santos’ first away win for three months, their previous one a 2-1 success at Noroeste on 8 February in the Paulistão at Alfredo de Castilho.
The result also marked their first progression in the cup for three years, after failing to advance in the last edition. In 2023 they beat Ceilândia, Iguatu and Botafogo-SP before losing to Bahia in the last 16.
Away from home this year, Santos recorded one win, one draw and three defeats in the Paulistão, scoring four and conceding seven. In the Brasileirão they have four draws and three defeats with nine scored and 14 conceded, and in the Sul-Americana two draws and one defeat with two scored and three conceded.
