Santos welcomed back goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão at Thursday’s session, a day after the 0-0 draw with Coritiba at Vila Belmiro in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil fifth stage. He has made himself available for the Brasileirão match at Bahia on Saturday at 18:30 Brasília time.
Cuca said Neymar will be rested against Bahia, with Tuesday’s game against San Lorenzo in Argentina in mind.
Brazão had been granted leave earlier in the week following his father’s death and trained at CT Rei Pelé on his return.
He worked on the pitch with players who did not start or were not in Cuca’s squad on Wednesday, while the starters stayed indoors for recovery.
Midfielder Gustavo Henrique, taken off in the first half with muscle pain in his right leg, received treatment and will undergo tests on Friday to determine the extent of any injury.
Forward Rony remains with the physios and is likely to miss the trip to Salvador because of a right ankle problem, as is midfielder Gabriel Menino, who is in physical transition work.
Santos will train again on Friday morning, their only field session with most of the squad before the weekend. The squad are due to travel to Salvador in the afternoon.
