Shimizu joins Liverpool on loan | OneFootball

Manchester City full-back Risa Shimizu has joined Liverpool on a season long loan.

The Japan international joined the Club ahead of the 2024/25 campaign from fellow Barclays Women’s Super League side West Ham United.

However, she missed the whole of last season after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament at last summer’s Olympic Games.

Shimizu has since made a successful recovery and returned to the pitch in City’s final behind-closed-doors friendly ahead of the season against Durham.

The full-back was a late substitute at the Joie Stadium as the Blues ran out 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Vivianne Miedema, Lily Murphy, Kerstin Casparij and Laura Coombs.

But now she’ll gain further match fitness at Liverpool, under the guidance of new Head Coach, Gareth Taylor.
