Milan have been following Konstantinos Karetsas since last November, and some of their scouts have been promoted, but time is of the essence in their pursuit. Borussia Dortmund and other clubs are keen on him as well.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Rossoneri are naturally monitoring a few different options, but the Greek starlet is their favorite one. They want him to join Christian Pulisic and Christopher Nkunku in the two spots behind Gonçalo Ramos. His price tag is €35/40M. The ongoing bidding war is not helping in that respect.
Karetsas is also well-liked by the Milan owner, who’s very involved in the transfer market these days, both for his skillset and his upside, as he’s only 18. However, the brass would like to trim the squad before any further splurges.
In that sense, Rafael Leao is a big problem, as he’s not fetched satisfactory offers for now, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta). The Rossoneri are fully ready to move on, but he’ll leave only at the right numbers. Chelsea aren’t targeting him at the moment. The reals proposals have come from Turkey. There’s also some interest from the Saudi Pro League. However, he’s hoping to find a landing spot in one of the top five championships.
It looks like they were super swift in addressing what they perceived as their biggest needs, a striker and a center-back, while they’ll act more normally in other positions. We’ll see whether it’ll cost them some targets or if the competition will force them to accelerate anyway. Difficult sales surely require more patience and nerve than splashy acquisitions.
