Southampton host Bristol City in the Championship at St Mary's Stadium on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, with the hosts aiming to cement a play-off berth and the visitors looking to consolidate their top-half standing.
Southampton are fourth on 75 points and Bristol City are 10th. The visitors won the reverse fixture 3-1 in October, while the hosts edged the most recent meeting at St Mary's 1-0 the season before.
Saints arrive on a five-game winning run across competitions, including league victories at Swansea and Wrexham and home wins over Derby and Blackburn, plus an FA Cup success against Arsenal. City's last four league matches brought two wins, a draw at QPR and a 4-2 home defeat to Norwich.
The Saints are without goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and defender Mads Roerslev. City travel without Max Bird, Rob Atkinson and Luke McNally, trimming midfield and defensive options.
The Saints have scored 75 league goals and average 57% possession with 84.18% passing accuracy, so they could look to control midfield and supply Adam Armstrong and Finn Azaz, both on 11 league goals, with Léo Scienza creating regularly from 10 assists. The Robins have produced 516 open play crosses at 20.93% accuracy and boast strong aerial numbers, so wide deliveries could test the Saints' back line, with Scott Twine a leading threat on 11 goals.
A home win would strengthen Saints' grip on the play-offs and keep pressure on the sides above. Victory for City would tighten the race for the remaining play-off spots and reinforce a top-half finish.
