Aberdeen have secured the appointment of Stephen Robinson as their new manager. The 51-year-old is travelled to Aberdeen to meet with the Dons hierarchy with a view to taking over at Pittodrie ahead of the weekend.
Robinson made the move from Paisley to take over from Peter Leven and be in the dugout ahead of this weekend’s game against Falkirk. With the Irishman completing his switch on Thursday, St Mirren and Robinson will miss out on the chance to face off against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Semi Final next month.
Martin O’Neill’s Celtic face St Mirren before the split but they will also face off at the National Stadium in April as Celtic look to secure a place in the showpiece final for the fourth consecutive season, having lost last season’s final against Aberdeen on penalties.

Robinson masterminded St Mirren’s Premier Sports Cup win over Wilfried Nancy’s Celtic in December but he has failed to address their catastrophic league form. Now, it appears that he will relinquish the opportunity to face Celtic again and play for the opportunity to compete in the Scottish Cup Final against either Dunfermline or Falkirk.
This will mean that Robinson will be in charge of Aberdeen as they travel to Ibrox next weekend to face Rangers.
