Anis Ben Slimane settled a tight game in the 73rd minute with a ruthless finish into the roof of the net, setting Norwich City on their way to a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Slimane's breakthrough came after he had already sparked the move, sliding Oscar Schwartau in to rattle the post moments earlier. The Tunisia international then arrived centrally to bury the loose ball and tilt the contest the Canaries' way.
From there, Slimane kept Canaries moves flowing with sharp touches between the lines and tidy distribution under pressure. His aggression without the ball also pinned Blackburn back as the spaces opened up.
He ended with one goal from his only attempt on target, six possessions won, two interceptions and seven successful passes in the final third, evidence of a midfielder dictating territory as well as delivering the decisive moment.
Because Norwich's wide service and second phase pressure repeatedly drew Blackburn's back line out, Slimane found pockets to receive and drive. His timing and composure ensured the key phases belonged to the hosts.
The Canaries rise from 18th to 17th in the Championship and visit Oxford United next. Blackburn Rovers remain 21st and travel to Queens Park Rangers.
