Steve Barker praises defender Thabo Moloisane after an important achievement with their team!

Stellenbosch FC’s Thabo Moloisane has reached a remarkable personal milestone, playing his 100th match for the club—and doing so from the first minute in each one. Head coach Steve Barker didn’t hold back his praise for the defender, highlighting his resilience and unwavering professionalism.

The significant match was a CAF Confederation Cup Group C encounter against AS Otohô, which Stellenbosch narrowly won 1–0. With no available stadium in the Western Cape, the clash was hosted at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane—a venue that once echoed with cheers during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Reflecting on Moloisane’s journey, Barker shared,“I’m very proud of Thabo; he had a tough season with Maritzburg when they got relegated. We picked him up, and since then, Thabo has played 100 games. He is the only player to reach 100 who started in every game. Other players reached 100 but came on as substitutes. So for him to start 100 games for the club is really good and a proud moment for him. He’s done really well for us.”

Since joining at the start of the 2023/24 season, Moloisane hasn’t just been a consistent starter—his influence has grown both at the club and beyond. His performances have even caught the eye of the national team selectors, earning him a place in the Bafana Bafana setup.

Barker went on to commend his player’s character and ambition, adding,“Thabo has also done very well to get himself in and around the Bafana team. He’s a solid professional, hardworking and very committed. He’s also a winner, and I am really proud of what he’s achieved in this time with us.”

With this milestone behind them, Moloisane and his teammates now turn their attention to their next challenge: the second group stage match, set for this Saturday.
