For FC Bayern, August 2025 was all about pre-season preparation and the start of the season: in addition to a series of test matches and winning the new Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, the team also began their regular season with convincing results in the Bundesliga.
Munich kicked off the month with a 2:1 victory over Olympique Lyon in a test match, followed by a convincing 4:0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Telekom Cup at the Allianz Arena – a duel that was seen as an important endurance test before the start of the season.
The record champions also put in a solid performance in the test match against Grasshopper Club Zürich, winning 2:1. A few days later, Bayern won the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup 2025 against VfB Stuttgart 2:1. Harry Kane gave FCB an early lead before new signing Luis Díaz scored his first competitive goal for the record champions to clinch the tie.
In the league, Bayern then kicked off the Bundesliga season with a furious 6-0 home win against RB Leipzig, in which Michael Olise scored a brace, Luis Díaz and Harry Kane scored a hat-trick.
In the first round of the DFB Cup at SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Bayern wobbled as has been almost customary in this competition in recent years. However, they ultimately prevailed 3:2, with Harry Kane scoring the late winner. To round off the month, FC Bayern won a tight away game at FC Augsburg 3:2.

In addition to the action on the pitch, transfer considerations continued to be a topic of conversation in August: the club showed interest in Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart. However, Stuttgart repeatedly blocked offers, meaning that a transfer did not materialize this summer and planning for the attack continued. Just a few days later, Woltemade finally made a surprise move to Newcastle United for around €85 million – a sum that was probably out of the question for FC Bayern anyway
In addition, the integration of new signing Luis Díaz continued with the first-round title in the Super Cup, with the striker playing a key role in the victory against Stuttgart. The superstar immediately scored points with fans and team alike with his positive character and exemplary work ethic.
August ended with a host of test and transition matches, an important Super Cup title and a successful start to the competitive season – a month that heralded a historic start to the season.
