Sunderland ‘have reached full agreement’ claim over Lucas Bergvall dismissed | OneFootball

Claims that Sunderland have reached a full agreement to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall are understood to be inaccurate.

Football Insider reported that the Black Cats had lodged an offer before striking an agreement, with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest also credited with interest.

However, no deal is understood to be in place, and that account does not reflect Sunderland’s current transfer position.

Bergvall would be a hugely ambitious addition for Régis Le Bris’ side. The 20-year-old joined Spurs from Djurgården in 2024 and later signed a contract until 2031, leaving Tottenham in a strong negotiating position. He is valued at around £50 million.

Able to operate across central midfield, he is regarded as one of Sweden’s most promising young players. His age, technical profile and potential resale value appear to fit Sunderland’s model, and further quality is expected before the summer window closes.

Thomas Meunier remains the only senior arrival so far, with Florent Ghisolfi indicating a more measured approach after last summer’s overhaul. Bergvall is not currently on his way to the Stadium of Light.
