Sunderland have been linked with a move for Celtic’s Arne Engels, while Alan Browne could leave on a permanent deal.
Sky Sports suggested earlier this week that the Black Cats were among clubs monitoring the Belgian in Glasgow, alongside Nottingham Forest and Fulham.
TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Napoli have entered the race and could target Engels if André-Frank Zambo Anguissa departs.
The report also claims Sunderland and Forest have submitted enquiries for the 22-year-old, and that offers above £21.6 million could persuade Celtic to sell.
On the outgoing front, The Northern Echo reports that Middlesbrough are weighing a permanent move for Sunderland loanee Browne after 42 appearances last season, when Boro lost the Championship play-off final to Hull City.
Head coach Kim Hellberg aims to go one step further next term, and his recruitment team are considering bringing Browne back to the Riverside to bolster numbers. Boro are expected to add at least two midfielders this summer, and Browne remains on their radar.
