Sunderland are linked with Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic and Grêmio defender Viery, alongside updates on Lutsharel Geertruida and Dan Neil. Florent Ghisolfi is shaping summer plans as Régis Le Bris prepares for Premier League and Europa League.
Reports in Italy say Roma have renewed contact after Gian Piero Gasperini’s approval, with Sunderland also credited with interest. The 18-year-old shone for Salzburg and Bosnia at youth level last season. The reports value him at about €30 million, approximately £25.9 million, and suggest he is keen to work under Gasperini.
Reports in Brazil claim Roma, Tottenham, Newcastle, Brighton and Sunderland have made enquiries for Viery. Fiorentina and Juventus are said to have seen approaches rejected.
Grêmio are understood to want more than €15 million, around £13 million, plus a future sell-on or added value. Viery has played 27 games with two goals this season and covers centre-back and left-back.
De Telegraaf reports Geertruida would have considered a Feyenoord return if Robin van Persie had stayed, but that exit has changed the picture. His loan has ended and that route appears less likely.
Oxford United, Wigan Athletic and York City are reportedly competing to sign Zak Johnson after his promotion-winning loan at York.
TEAMtalk claims Hull City are weighing a move for former Sunderland captain Dan Neil. It adds Rangers have held talks and hope to convince him to move to Scotland. Neil’s expected exit remains a major storyline and his future appears likely to be away from the Stadium of Light.
