Sunderland’s retained list is due shortly, but three expected departures could still be named among those kept on paper. That would not signal a change in their long-term futures.

According to Sunderland Echo, Harrison Jones, Timur Tutierov and Zak Johnson are expected to be listed as retained even though they are still anticipated to leave this summer.

The club is aiming to protect its position, so exits may be managed rather than immediate. Potential moves could carry a small fee or a sell-on clause, preserving value if the players progress elsewhere.

Jones has interest from League One, League Two and Scotland ahead of a possible move. The local midfielder is highly regarded at the Academy of Light and has been around the senior group during a successful period.

Promotion to the Premier League has changed the pathway picture for several young players. Tutierov and Johnson are also expected to depart as Sunderland reshape their academy and development ranks this summer.
