According to a recent report from AS, it has come to light that Jose Mourinho has been presented as a potential managerial option for Real Madrid, with his agent Jorge Mendes informing the club about the possibility of a return.

As per the outlet, the Portuguese super agent has recently made contact with Real Madrid, making it clear that Mourinho, currently managing SL Benfica, has a release clause in his contract. 

The message is that if Madrid are looking for a new manager, the path to bringing Mourinho back is open.

Uncertainty at Real Madrid

This development comes at a time when uncertainty continues to surround the future of Alvaro Arbeloa. 

While he remains in charge for now, there is a growing expectation that the club will reassess the situation once the season concludes.

Within that context, multiple managerial profiles are being discussed internally.

High-profile names such as Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann, Jurgen Klopp, and Didier Deschamps have all been mentioned as part of the wider conversation.

Mourinho’s case, however, carries a different weight.

Why is that?

Mourinho’s history with Real Madrid, combined with his strong relationship with club president Florentino Perez, makes him a familiar and proven option. 

He has never hidden his connection to the club, and the idea of a return, while unexpected, is not entirely out of place. Still, Real Madrid are not rushing into any decisions.

The club’s immediate priority remains the current campaign, as there is a clear focus on finishing the season strongly before making any structural changes, including the managerial position.

Within the club, offers and proposals are not uncommon, especially when one of the biggest managerial roles in world football could become available. 

In that sense, Mourinho is now part of that conversation, but he is just one of several options being evaluated.
