Interim head coach Calum McFarlane is well liked by the Chelsea players, and rated as a coach according to The Athletic.

Following the sacking of Liam Rosenior on Wednesday, McFarlane has been placed in interim charge for the remainder of the season.

He oversaw games against Manchester City and Fulham earlier this season following the departure of Enzo Maresca, and picked up a point from those two games.

Calum McFarlane liked by Chelsea squad

McFarlane will lead Chelsea out at Wembley for their FA Cup semi final against Leeds on Sunday, and he’ll be tasked with getting a response from the players.

Chelsea are on a run of five consecutive defeats without scoring in the league, and it’s arguably the lowest point under the ownership.

It’s a huge job for McFarlane given his lack of experience at the highest level, and the players will really need to step up and help him.

There was reportedly a lack of respect for Rosenior in the dressing room, as well as criticism over his training sessions.

However, The Athletic have reported McFarlane is actually well liked by the players and respected as a coach .

He will face the media on Friday afternoon ahead of the FA Cup semi final, where he’s sure to be met with a lot of questions.
