‘The ref clearly made a mistake’ – Real Sociedad fume after Barcelona defeat | OneFootball

Real Sociedad star Álvaro Odriozola has revealed his take that his side were altogether hard done by in their defeat to Barcelona on Sunday.

This comes owing to a major call which went against the Basque outfit in Catalunya’s capital.

Real Sociedad of course made the trip to Montjuïc earlier today, for a meeting with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.

When all was said and done, the visitors found themselves condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result, despite having opened the scoring in surprise fashion during the first-half.

As alluded to above, though, La Real’s eventual defeat did not come without its controversies.

En route to Barcelona levelling things up through Jules Koundé on the stroke of the interval, Sociedad were left livid.

This came amid widespread claims that a corner awarded to Barca should in fact have resulted in a goal-kick for the visitors.

And one individual who remained adamant regarding as much following the full-time whistle is the aforementioned Álvaro Odriozola.

Speaking to the media post-match at Montjuïc, Odriozola – who netted his side’s only goal on the day – insisted:

“We complained about it because that’s how it was. We played football and we made mistakes. Referees make mistakes too. This time, yes. The referee clearly made a mistake. There’s no need to dwell on it.”
