Nottingham Forest dismantled Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at the City Ground, with 'oles' ringing before the end. Nottingham Post notes it was their best display of the Sean Dyche era, built on control and sharp passing.
Callum Hudson-Odoi struck first after Ibrahim Sangare’s pressing forced the opening. Later, John Victor hooked forward, Igor Jesus cushioned the ball and a slick move ended with Sangare thumping in off the post for 3-0. The midfielder also supplied two assists. He will be missed while away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Dyche pushed back at stereotypes about his football, saying he wants his players to play and be at their best, but stressed the basics. At half-time he hammered home the Sunday League fundamentals, from hard running to winning headers, tackles and races.
With Matz Sels nursing a groin issue, John made his Premier League debut and saved well from Archie Gray at 1-0. The Brazilian looked assured and claimed a clean sheet, while Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo’s reunion at centre-back underpinned the display.
Forest have taken 12 points from the last six match weeks, fewer only than Aston Villa with 18 and Manchester City with 15. The win put them five clear of the drop zone. It may still be a slog, but Dyche’s impact is unmistakable, and a free week precedes Fulham next Monday.
