Timur Tutierov, the Ukraine Under-21 international, has set fresh targets after a bright pre-season with Sunderland. 'I am so proud for myself and so proud for the lads,' he told the club website.
The 21-year-old impressed in the Academy of Light before a loan at Exeter City in the second half of last season, scoring three and supplying one assist in 17 outings. He returned at the end of the campaign and signed a new deal through to summer 2028.
Training with Regis Le Bris’ first-team squad, the versatile forward impacted last week’s win at League Two newcomers York City. That display earned him a place on a three-game tour in the United States.
Against Liverpool on Saturday night, Kieran Morrison put the Reds ahead, then Enzo Le Fee’s wonder strike levelled. Tutierov made it two in as many games to give Sunderland the lead, before Dominik Szoboszlai, Federico Chiesa and Lewis Koumas secured a 4-2 Liverpool win.
He said the experience of facing such opposition was invaluable and left him happy with his start. 'The season has started good for me and I hope I am going to keep this level and keep these standards.'
