Tomás Rincón misses Santos’ Copa Sudamericana opener after visa issue | OneFootball

Santos will be without Tomás Rincón for their Copa Sudamericana opener against Deportivo Cuenca, the midfielder omitted from the travelling squad due to a visa issue.

The sides meet on Wednesday at 19:00 Brasília time at the Alejandro Serrano Aguilar stadium in Cuenca, Ecuador. According to Globo.com, Rincón does not have the required entry visa.

Ecuador has required Venezuelan citizens to hold visas since 2019 to control migration. Applications must be filed 60 days in advance, although the competition draw was only held on 19 March.

Rincón has returned to Santos to train with non-travelling players, including Neymar.

In addition to Rincón and Neymar, Santos will be without Gabriel Barbosa. The striker is undergoing his final PRP session on Monday, a treatment using the patient’s own blood to speed muscular and cellular recovery, as he treats adductor tendinitis in his right thigh.

Further absentees are left-back Vinícius Lira with a left knee injury, right-back Mayke who is being rested due to corticosteroid use, and midfielder Gabriel Menino with a right hamstring injury.
