Torino ‘closing in’ on €16m Leeds keeper as James Trafford pursuit advances | OneFootball

Torino are reported to be close to signing Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri, as the Whites prepare their next move for James Trafford.

yorkshireevenpost.co.uk understands Leeds remain in productive talks with Manchester City for Trafford, but figures are still not agreed. It is also understood Perri would not be allowed to leave without at least one more keeper coming in, and that, as of Friday evening, nothing was close on either an arrival or a departure.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Friday that Torino are nearing an agreement for Perri, adding that growing Leeds confidence over a deal for Trafford has helped unlock the move. Fabrizio Romano later said Torino were finalising details for Perri and that Leeds would then proceed for Trafford, with the player keen.

On Thursday, David Ornstein reported that Trafford appeared to be leaning towards a switch to Elland Road, with Newcastle United no longer considering him despite long-term interest.

Leeds have already lost two senior goalkeepers this summer, with out-of-contract pair Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier departing. Meslier joined Arsenal, Darlow signed for Manchester United. That left Perri and Alex Cairns as the remaining first-team options, and Perri only arrived last summer from Lyon for €16m.
