Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri is the subject of strong Torino interest, with the Serie A club reportedly closing on a deal as Leeds advance their pursuit of James Trafford.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Torino are close to signing Perri, with Leeds’ growing confidence over a deal for Manchester City’s Trafford easing the exit. Fabrizio Romano has said final details are being sorted, after which Leeds would move for Trafford, who is keen on the switch. On Thursday, David Ornstein reported that Trafford, whose future was set to be decided after the World Cup, appeared to be leaning towards Elland Road, with Newcastle United no longer considering him.
yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk understands Leeds are in productive talks with City for Trafford, although numbers have not yet been agreed. It is also understood Torino are very keen on Perri, but he would not be allowed to depart without at least one other keeper arriving. As of Friday evening, nothing was close on either the incoming or outgoing front.
Leeds have already lost two senior goalkeepers this summer, with out-of-contract pair Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier departing. Meslier then joined Arsenal in a surprise move, before Darlow signed for Manchester United.
That left Perri and experienced stopper Alex Cairns as the only first-team options. Perri joined Leeds last summer from Lyon in a €16m deal.
