As reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are exploring a deal to sign PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani on loan this January.
As well as Serie A giants Juventus, the two Premier League sides are said to have actively expressed interest in signing the forward, and are now emergy as “leading contenders” for the Frenchman.
Having joined the Ligue 1 champions in September 2023 following a stellar debut campaign for Eintracht Frankfurt, Kolo-Muani has struggled to find form in his home nation, accumulating 11 goals and seven assists across 36 appearances in all competitions, compared to 26 goals and 17 assists in 50 matches in Germany.
However, with Kolo Muani an experienced international as part of France’s 2022 World Cup and 2024 European Championship squads, the versatile forward would be a valuable addition to either Spurs or United as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the second half of the campaign.
The Lilywhites have struggled in forward areas all season. Despite marquee summer signing Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson all contributing significantly, the likes of Son Heung-min and Timo Werner are lacking form, whilst other summer arrival Wilson Odobert and Richarlison have been absent through injury.
As for United, according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, Ruben Amorim’s side have reportedly held interest in the 26-year-old since the summer of 2023, but instead opted to sign Rasmus Højlund under then head coach Erik ten Hag’s influence.
Though, with just two league goals so far this season The Dane hasn’t yet asserted himself as The Red Devils’ primary goalscorer. Nor has £35m acquisition Joshua Zirkzee, who is already being linked with a move away just six months into his spell at Old Trafford.
As such, Zirkzee and Højlund’s current form, as well as the expected departure of Marcus Rashford, has left United in further need of attacking reinforcements this winter.
Due to Kolo Muani’s still being under contract until 2028, any potential move for the player is expected to initially be a loan move, but, with both his camp and PSG being informed of the interest from Europe’s top clubs, his move away from the Parc des Princes is likely this transfer window.
