In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Manchester United in the race to land the English talent next year.

Gallagher’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Gallagher enjoyed a decent run of form at the Madrid club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 25-year-old featured in 50 matches for Atletico Madrid last season, finding the back of the net four times and earning six assists on all fronts.

The English midfield ace offered solid protection for his teammates at the back as he made 45 tackles, 23 blocks, 20 interceptions and 23 clearances in La Liga. He was even tidy when distributing possession from midfield after he completed 85% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, Spurs would have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit him next year.

Is Gallagher A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?

Gallagher loves a tackle and usually works hard to win the ball back for his team in the middle of the park. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The English sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League from his spell at Chelsea and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham if they can devise a way to bring him on board next year.

Gallagher would add more energy and dynamism to Spurs head coach Thomas Frank’s midfield. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.

At 25, Gallagher has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him an excellent option for Tottenham to consider this January or at the end of this campaign. He might even help the London club compete for some major trophies over the next few years.
