Spurs head to Norway in search of a second successive Champions League victory, yet their preparations have again been shaped by injuries. Thomas Frank must juggle options and reshape his defence, with Cristian Romero absent from the travelling squad.

Romero’s omission is described by Frank as a “precaution” but it means Micky van de Ven will have a different partner at centre-back. Kevin Danso is expected to step into the role, while Ben Davies, fit again after injury, is unlikely to start. Pedro Porro, who began on the bench at the weekend, should come back into the side at right-back. Destiny Udogie retains his place at left-back and Guglielmo Vicario continues in goal.

Richarlison is set to lead the line once more, even after looking fatigued in the draw with Wolves. Options remain limited, with Mathys Tel unavailable for the European phase and Dominic Solanke sidelined following ankle surgery. Randal Kolo Muani’s slow recovery from a dead leg adds to the forward shortage.

The absence of creativity from James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski means Frank must decide whether to use Xavi Simons centrally as a No10 or maintain him on the left. If Simons stays wide, Lucas Bergvall will likely provide the advanced midfield spark.

Frank is weighing up changes in midfield to cope with the heavy schedule. Pape Matar Sarr is available and could come in to freshen things up, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha having carried significant loads in recent matches. Mohamed Kudus is expected to feature on the right, giving Spurs both drive and invention.
