Tottenham star was treated for eight minutes on the pitch
Rodrigo Bentancur is conscious and will undergo further tests at hospital, Tottenham have confirmed.
The midfielder was stretchered off in the first-half of Spurs’ Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool on Wednesday night, having received lengthy treatment on the pitch.
Bentancur stooped to try and flick on a corner, but stayed down and both sets of players swiftly called for the medical staff to come on.
A statement from Tottenham read: “We can confirm Rodrigo is conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks.”
Speaking after the match, Ange Postecoglou was asked for a further update on Bentancur’s health.
"I don't have all the information,” the Spurs boss told Sky Sports.
“My understanding is he is conscious and he was conscious when he got to the dressing room. We took him to hospital to get him checked over.
"It was worrying and always a concern but from what I know hopefully he will be OK."
