Toulouse stayed in Marseille overnight after reaching the Coupe de France semi-finals at the Vélodrome. They drew 2-2 then won 4-3 on penalties, and returned on Thursday to prepare for a Ligue 1 reunion with OM on Saturday at 21:05.
According to L'Équipe, the club broke with its usual post-match return to Toulouse, with management and staff opting to remain in the city to maximise recovery time for the players.
Before departing around midday, the travelling party had a lively morning when the hotel fire alarm sounded twice. A toaster used at breakfast had been placed too close to a detector. The group saw the funny side and simply moved it.
On arrival back in the Ville Rose, most players were scheduled only for a light recovery session, with those who featured undertaking a brief warm-down. Medical tests were planned to assess Charlie Cresswell’s injury, leaving him a doubt for Saturday’s game at the Stadium.
For head coach Carles Martinez Novell and his staff, the work continued with video analysis to try to find ways to unsettle OM again. He said it was important to study the match closely.
