Toulouse have condemned racist abuse aimed at Pape Demba Diop after their Coupe de France quarter-final at OM, stating support for the 22-year-old Senegalese midfielder.

The tie at the Vélodrome ended 2-2, with Toulouse winning 4-3 on penalties.

Soon after the match, Diop received racist messages on social media following his celebration of his spot-kick, when he made the hand sign popularised by Marseille rapper Jul in front of the home end.

The club said in a statement that it fully supports Diop, called the messages intolerable and totally unacceptable, and condemned all racism and discrimination, which it said have no place in sport or society.

Toulouse will contest the semi-finals. Diop joined from RC Strasbourg in the last winter window and has quickly established himself in midfield.
