There is already intense speculation around FC Bayern about possible summer transfers, but coach Vincent Kompany makes it clear where his priorities lie – and which stars are his main focus
As the summer transfer window approaches, the discussion around FC Bayern about potential new signings naturally gathers pace. Names are being bandied about, scenarios are being played out and wish lists are being drawn up. Vincent Kompany has now also been directly confronted with this question – albeit in a rather unusual setting
During a Q&A session with young fans from the Bayern Kids Club, the young supporters wanted to know which player the coach would personally like to see in Munich. Kompany did not use the opportunity to talk about external candidates, however, but instead deliberately focused on the existing squad
The Bayern coach made it clear that the division of responsibilities at the club is clearly defined. Other people are responsible for transfers and his role is to work with the team on a daily basis. He explained: „My role is to love the players we have here. We have other people here who are working on bringing in new players. My role is to say: the players we have here are top – I want to work with Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, Jamal Musiala and so on. We’ll see what happens in the summer.“
With this statement, Kompany is sending out a clear signal: instead of public wish lists, he is relying on trust in his current squad. The fact that he explicitly mentions key players such as Kane, Olise, Diaz and Musiala underlines how much he is relying on quality and development in the existing squad
What will actually happen in the summer remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Kompany is demonstratively backing his team – and leaving the transfer planning to the relevant departments at the club.
