Manchester United have been trying to get rid of their “bomb squad” since the summer window opened, to little effect.
Till now, only Marcus Rashford has departed, only on loan to Barcelona. The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia remain at Carrington.
All of them have been training on their own, away from the main group, with the Dutchman now the subject of interest from Porto, as per The Athletic.
Recently, AS Roma had expressed their interest in the Netherlands international, with the Portuguese giants now joining the race.
Given his form and recent injury record, United have been forced to slash his asking price. And now, given the lack of demand, they could change their transfer stance as well
“Roma’s pursuit of Sancho is unlikely to materialise, but they have also registered an interest in Tyrell Malacia.
“While Manchester United and Malacia would prefer a permanent move, a loan cannot be ruled out for the 26-year-old full-back, who has also attracted the attention of Porto.”
This seems to indicate that the 26-year-old could be loaned out yet again. Hopefully, this time INEOS will include an obligation.
In January, the ex-Feyenoord ace returned to the Eredivisie to join PSV Eindhoven.
The fullback went on to win the league but the Dutch giants opted against triggering their option to sign him permanently.
Tyrell Malacia has had it tough since a promising debut campaign in Manchester. A knee injury meant he had to go under the knife and he ended up missing the whole of the 2023/24 campaign.
By the time he returned, Ruben Amorim had taken over, and had switched formation, as he sought to utilise wingbacks instead of fullbacks. The Dutchman struggled both offensively and defensively, which resulted in his loan departure.
It is clear that the head coach does not have him in his plans moving forward, now that Patrick Dorgu is there at the club, while Diego Leon joined in the summer.
