U20 Women's World Cup qualifiers: Nigeria defeats Senegal
Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team clinched a 1-0 victory to take the lead in their two-legged tie in the third round of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Poland.
The encounter did not favor the Senegal U20 Lionesses. Playing away this Saturday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, they suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat against their Nigerian counterparts.
After a goalless first half, the Nigeria U20 Falconets broke the deadlock in the 50th minute. Kindness Chinaza Ifeanyi was the match-winner, scoring the only goal of the game.
The return leg is scheduled for February 14 in the city of Thiès. Coach Mbayang Thiam and her squad will be counting on home support to turn the tie around.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian team heads to Senegal with a slender advantage, aiming to defend their lead and secure a spot in the fourth and final qualifying round.
