In a recent report, BBC Sport offered an update on the future of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos. It has been mentioned that the Blues have not ruled out selling the Brazilian midfield ace in this summer transfer window.
Santos had a decent campaign at the West London club as he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 22-year-old found the back of the net on three occasions and earned four assists in 43 matches for Chelsea last season in all competitions.
The Brazilian talent is currently one of the most promising young midfielders in the Premier League. Thus, it is a surprise that Chelsea are looking to cash in on him in this transfer period.
His current contract at the West London club will run out in the summer of 2030. Hence, there is no immediate need for the Blues to let him go this off-season.

Santos loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The Brazilian sensation has got the vision to create some inviting chances in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet. Santos mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder if asked to do so by his manager. At the moment, he remains an important member of Chelsea’s squad.
However, Santos is not guaranteed a regular spot in Xabi Alonso’s first team next season. Therefore, it is only logical for the player to seek a move elsewhere in search of more first-team starts in the future.
At 22, Santos will only get better with each season. Hence, the Blues would be better off letting him go and using the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their squad. Another option for Alonso would be keep hold of him for another season before deciding on his future next summer.
