Vasco are monitoring reinforcements at full-back after dips in form for Paulo Henrique and Lucas Piton, with defensive lapses and limited attacking output raising alarms inside the club.
According to Globo.com, while right-back targets were studied, focus has moved to the left following Puma Rodríguez’s contract renewal.
The club are interested in Cuiabano and are assessing further options. Before Rodríguez renewed, Dinis Pinto of Moreirense was among the right-back candidates considered, alongside others from the Portuguese market.
Paulo Henrique’s downturn stretches back to late last year, including two below-par Copa do Brasil semi-finals and two poor finals against Corinthians.
Left-back became a priority after Leandrinho’s sale. With Victor Luís out of the picture, the board are seeking a player of starter calibre to raise competition, and Piton’s recent dip has reinforced that need.
Vasco have also received enquiries for Piton. The club rejected a Besiktas bid worth four million euros, and if the club from Türkiye raises its offer, the hierarchy would not oppose a sale. In that event, Admar Lopes and Pedrinho would move for two players in the position.
