Leeds United fan Katie Taylor cemented her place among boxing’s greats early Saturday morning, with victory over Amanda Serrano, in their highly anticipated trilogy bout at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Retaining her status as undisputed light-welterweight champion, the 39 year old delivered a controlled and disciplined performance, with judges scoring it 97-93, 97-93, and 95-95.

It is the third time Taylor has defeated Serrano, in what has become one of the sport’s defining rivalries, with the Irish star saying after the fight, “It is very, very satisfying. I think we both sit back very proud right now. We created history together three times. My name will always be embedded with hers forever.”

Appearing on Soccer AM in 2019, Taylor, a former footballer who represented Republic of Ireland on the international stage, spoke of her admiration for the Whites saying "My team is actually Leeds United.

"My dad is from Leeds and my older two brothers grew up supporting Leeds as well. Every Christmas we would get Leeds jerseys for Christmas and football boots. I was a huge football fan growing up."

Describing visits to Elland Road as "some of my best memories as a kid", the Bray native would also go on to defend her titles in front of a Leeds crowd, defeating Jennifer Han at Headingley Stadium in 2021.
