Pep Guardiola says Manchester City will make a call on Rodri’s availability later today ahead of our trip to Nottingham Forest.

We go to the City Ground for a 12:30 (UK) kick-off on Saturday 27 December after a short pre-Christmas break for Guardiola and his players.

They returned to the CFA on the evening of Christmas Day and train on both leading into that clash.

Guardiola says there’s a chance that our talismanic Spanish midfielder could be involved.

He hasn’t played since a brief substitute appearance in early November after a hamstring injury following his lengthy layoff for a knee injury.

But the boss is hopeful the 29-year-old could take to the pitch soon.

“Rodri is much, much better. Available or not, we’ll decide today,” he stated in a pre-match interview in lieu of his usual press conference.

He also gave an update on Jeremy Doku and John Stones, who haven’t featured in recent weeks.

“Doku and John still aren’t there but soon they’ll be back,” he said.

Forest sit 17th in the Premier League with 18 points from 17 games, five clear of West Ham in the relegation zone.

However, the City Ground has not always been a happy hunting ground for the Blues, with Forest beating us 1-0 on our last visit there in March.

Guardiola is under no illusions as to the difficulty of facing Sean Dyche’s team.

“Last season especially with Nuno [Espirito Santo], they made an incredible job there and even before it’s always been a tough place to go, for the crowd and especially for the quality they have.

“They’re a team who’s invested a lot in the last years after being promoted to the Premier League. They’re a really, really good side.”
