West Brom are facing the threat of punishment from the EFL relating to PSR breaches
West Brom are embroiled in a relegation battle in the Championship this season, and may be facing a severe blow to their survival hopes following a recent emerging development from the Hawthorns.
The Baggies are facing the threat of falling into League One, and they haven’t competed at that level since 1993.
Albion began the campaign with Ryan Mason as the new head coach, with the 34-year-old taking over in his first role as the main man on a permanent basis.
He previously worked as a coach at Tottenham Hotspur, which included brief periods as interim head coach, but he ultimately was sacked by West Brom in January.
Eric Ramsay lasted just 44 days as his replacement before James Morrison was brought in to oversee the remainder of the term.
However, the Midlands outfit are just two points clear of the relegation zone, and the looming threat of a points deduction has put the club at even more risk of falling out of the Championship.

It has been reported by The Telegraph that West Brom face the possibility of being deducted points by the EFL this season due to breaches of their financial rules.
This puts the club at even greater risk of being relegated to League One, as they are just two points clear of the bottom three and any deduction at this late stage could seal Albion's fate.
Relegation rivals Leicester City were found guilty of alleged breaches of profit and sustainability rules (PSR) earlier this season, which saw them handed a six point deduction penalty that could well end up sending the Foxes into League One.
However, it’s been claimed by The Mirror that a points deduction is not the only sanction on the table for the EFL.
It’s believed that a transfer ban or a fine could also be chosen as punishment for West Brom if they are found guilty of PSR breaches.
While the charges are related to last season, the sanctions are set to be imposed on this campaign.
But West Brom are pushing for the punishments to be handed next season, and it remains to be seen whether they can be successful in that case.
The alleged breach is understood to be quite minor, which could lead to a more lenient punishment than what Leicester received.
The Foxes appealed the six point deduction, but the decision was upheld and it has left them at risk of falling out of the Championship just 12 months after being relegated from the Premier League.

West Brom took a step towards safety last weekend with a point at home to third place Millwall, which put them five points clear of Leicester in 23rd.
However, Oxford United’s victory against Watford put them within two points of the Baggies, so results will be needed in the final four games regardless of any possible sanctions.
A fine would be the most lenient option available to the EFL, as that should only have a minor impact on the club.
A transfer ban could be quite detrimental, and may even be worse than a points deduction if they manage to survive by enough to swallow that sanction.
Being unable to improve the squad in the summer, and potentially even next January, could put them at an even greater risk of relegation next season, if they manage to avoid the bottom three.
