West Brom are making waves in the transfer market with a USA international & Spurs wonderkid linked. Darren Fletcher also lands a new role at Man Utd.
West Bromwich Albion are making clever moves in the transfer market as Ryan Mason continues to shape his squad for the 25/26 Championship campaign.
The Baggies have already completed the shrewd permanent signings of Nat Phillips from Liverpool, who impressed last season on loan at Derby County, and Norwegian striker Aune Heggebø from SK Brann.
FLW take a look at the latest news to come out of the Black Country as more signings are expected to follow.
West Brom are reportedly finalising a permanent deal to sign Montreal defender George Campbell, with the 24-year-old a priority target for Ryan Mason as he looks to strengthen his side's defensive options even more.
Campbell, who stands at 6'2", has made 78 appearances for CF Montreal since joining from Atlanta United in 2022 - and his performances have been impressive enough to earn him a call-up to the United States national team, making his debut in January 2025.
Bristol City were also credited with interest in Campbell, but West Brom appear to have won the race for the American defender, with the move expected to be completed in the coming days.
Former West Bromwich Albion captain, Darren Fletcher, has been appointed as Manchester United's U18's lead coach - marking a big step in his coaching career.
The 41-year-old captained the Baggies for two-and-a-half seasons, and has taken on the role with immediate effect as he continues his progression through the coaching ranks at Old Trafford.
He joined West Brom in February 2015 on a free transfer and was immediately handed the captain's armband by then-manager Tony Pulis. During his time at The Hawthorns, Fletcher made 97 appearances, helping the club finish 10th in the Premier League during his tenure.
Fletcher's appointment comes after a varied coaching journey since hanging up his boots in 2019. After initially returning to Manchester United as head coach of the U16s in 2020, he was promoted to first-team coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021.
He then became technical director in March that year, though he returned to first-team coaching duties under Erik ten Hag and continued in this capacity under Ruben Amorim.
Tottenham Hotspur's teenage sensation Mikey Moore is expected to successfully complete his medical ahead of a potential move to West Brom, despite missing games last season due to a virus.
According to West Brom News, Dr. Rajphal Brar explained: "He missed several games last season with a virus. However, that is not something that would cause any issues with his medical.
"Also, it should not be something that would see clubs avoid making a move for him as it's not likely to cause long-term ramifications."
Last season under Ange Postecoglu, Moore was handed three starts in the Premier League - so a potential reunion with former Spurs coach Ryan Mason could see his career in English football really take off.
Football Insider reported that West Brom are keen to secure Moore on a loan deal for next season as the club aims to reinforce their attacking options in the Championship. At just 17 years old, consistent playing time in the Championship would provide Moore with valuable experience and the chance to develop his game further - and Mason knows the pathway from youth to senior football very well.
