West Bromwich Albion say they have complied in full with the EFL’s Profitability and Sustainability rules after being charged over an alleged breach, and will continue working with league finance officials to resolve the matter.
If found guilty, they could face a points deduction, fine or transfer ban.
The Baggies are two points above the drop zone with relegation to the Championship at stake, so any sanction could affect the fight to stay up.
The statement added that the absolute priority is success for James Morrison’s side across the final four matches, and it thanked supporters for their unwavering backing.
It also said the club would not comment further at this stage.
