West Brom Women interim head coach Martyn Irvine departs weeks after appointment | OneFootball

Martyn Irvine has left his role as West Brom Women’s interim head coach just weeks after being appointed. The club said the departure was by mutual agreement.

The 39-year-old was named interim on June 22, stepping in for Siobhan Hodgetts-Still, who is on maternity leave.

Irvine brought more than 20 years of coaching experience and previously served 12 years in the British Army. He was assistant head coach with FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division rivals Stoke City, and has worked in Nottingham Forest’s academy and with the Football Association, where Hodgetts-Still has also worked.

He had overseen pre-season, with Albion recording a 5-0 win over Leafield Athletic last weekend.

Assistant coach Charlie Fripp will take interim charge until Hodgetts-Still returns in the new year.

Albion face Portsmouth on Sunday before hosting Wolves on Thursday, August 6. Both fixtures will be played behind closed doors.

The Baggies begin their 2026-27 FA Women’s National League Northern Premier campaign away at Stoke City on Sunday, August 16, with a 2pm kick-off.
