Weston McKennie could yet be back at Elland Road this season, with Tuttosport reporting the Juventus midfielder is tempted by a Premier League return in January.
The United States international spent six months of 2022/23 on loan at Leeds and departed an unpopular figure after relegation, his displays criticised and his fitness questioned.
His deal in Turin expires at the end of the season, so Juventus risk losing him for nothing unless they sell in January or agree fresh terms. His agents are exploring opportunities.
Juventus have a predetermined option to renew his contract until 2029 on around €3.6m (£3.2m) a year plus bonuses, and staying in Turin is his first choice. Technical Director Damien Comolli must decide whether to proceed with the arrangement negotiated last year by Cristiano Giuntoli.
No Premier League clubs are named, only that England is an option under consideration as Juventus ponder a new deal.
If a move does materialise, his past comments suggested he would avoid the north of England. “Okay I will say this, Leeds as a club, the people within the club I liked. The city itself and the surroundings was a little bit hard. It was always grey, I had a sunlight window in my house and there was never any sun coming through,” he told CBS Sports in December 2024.
