Chivas knows that to cap off its great finish to the tournament, it must defeat Rayados de Monterrey, not only to continue its positive momentum, but also because those three points would have greater significance heading into the final phase of the 2025 Apertura.
After their important victory against the Tuzos, Guadalajara is on the verge of securing their direct ticket to the playoffs. Thanks to their tremendous finish to the tournament, the Rebaño depends on itself to sneak in directly, so here we will tell you all the scenarios for Gabriel Milito's team ahead of Matchday 17.
Currently, the fight for sixth place is only between Chivas and Bravos de Juárez, as the Rojiblancos remain in that position with 26 points, while the Fronterizos have 23. In terms of goal difference, the Rebaño Sagrado also has the upper hand with +5 (Juárez has 0).
• If Chivas wins or draws, it secures sixth place and a direct ticket to the 2025 Apertura playoffs.
• Even if Guadalajara loses to Rayados, it could still qualify, as long as Bravos does not win, or if it does, that it does not exceed the goal difference that currently favors the Rebaño Sagrado.
In short, the Rojiblancos could only finish in sixth or seventh place; there is no other way. The outlook is clear for the Guadalajara team, as it is in their hands to secure their ticket to the quarterfinals directly, by simply scoring against the Regios.
Finally, it would be very daring to talk about a possible opponent if they finish in sixth place, as it could be any of the top five teams in the overall standings (Cruz Azul, Toluca, América, Tigres, or Rayados).
