Liverpool have lost six of their last seven games across all competitions, putting pressure on manager Arne Slot.
He guided Liverpool to the Premier League title last season and was backed in the summer transfer window, raising expectations heading into the new campaign.
After starting the season with five consecutive victories, the Reds have suffered a dip in form.
Their performances were unconvincing early on in the campaign, making their current struggles unsurprising.
Liverpool’s woes can be attributed to the psychological impact of Diogo Jota’s death, new signings struggling and Slot’s poor decision-making.
They now head into a crucial week, where they will face Aston Villa and Manchester City in the league. They also face Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Slot still retains the backing of the Liverpool hierarchy and the most fans, but that could change with poor results in the forthcoming games.
A defeat to Madrid might not have a significant impact on their Champions League campaign, but defeats to Villa and City could cost them the defence of the league title.
Villa are one of the division’s in-form teams, but have not won at Anfield since 2014. City appear to have regained their mojo this season.
Slot must find his strongest starting XI, fix his side’s defensive frailties and hope the attack becomes more clinical to come out unscathed in these games.
