Pedro “Dro” Fernandez, 18, is expected to become Paris Saint-Germain’s first winter recruit. According to L'Équipe, an agreement is in place on a deal running until 2030.
Although contracted to Barcelona until 2027, the attacking midfielder informed the club he wants a move to France this winter. He is highly sought after, including in England, and is represented by the same agent as Gavi, Eric Garcia, Arnau Tenas and Luis Enrique. After the 3-0 win over Lille on Friday, Enrique said he did not know and would not comment.
Born in 2008 in Nigrán, Galicia, Fernandez is a Spain under-18 international, having progressed through every age group from under-15. He has Filipino heritage through his mother.
He has trained with the Barça first team since summer 2025, including a tour of Japan and South Korea, and names team-mate Pedri as his idol. This season he has been a near-permanent member of Hansi Flick’s group.
He created the second goal for Fermín López in the 38th minute before being substituted on the hour. His possible arrival recalls Kays Ruiz-Atil, who joined PSG from La Masia in 2015, left in 2021 after seven appearances and now plays for Royal Francs-Borains in Belgium’s second tier.
It also echoes the Xavi Simons case, the Dutchman featuring mainly for PSG’s under-19s with 29 games, plus 11 with the seniors, before completing a permanent move to Leipzig in January 2025 for a fee of 50 to 80 million euros. Fernandez will hope to make his mark in Paris like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Ousmane Dembélé, all far more experienced, who spent time at Barcelona before coming to France.
