A few days ago, we reported that Inter Miami extended Guillermo Hoyos' contract until the end of the season.
Before the MLS paused its season, due to the World Cup, Inter Miami ended up in second place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind Nashville SC.
Although Heron fans were excited by the Mexican manager’s impressive track record, recent reports indicated that Inter Miami was seeking a more experienced coach.
According to Bolavip, David Beckham approached an already established coach, but the coach turned him down.
According to the aforementioned outlet, the former Manchester City head coach turned down the offer of being reunited with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
Having Guardiola in the Heron’s bench was indeed difficult, because the Spanish manager said he would take a long break before returning to the field as a coach.
After Javier Mascherano’s departure, David Beckham identified Guardiola as a potential replacement after reports emerged that he would not continue at Manchester City.
One of the reasons the former FC Barcelona manager turned down this opportunity was personal reasons and burnout.
Additionally, Pep Guardiola has repeatedly expressed his desire to manage a national team and coach at a World Cup after his tenure with the Citizens.
That’s why Inter Miami decided to extend Hoyos contract because they couldn’t be in the regular season without a head coach.
Also, Lionel Messi’s recent performances prove that the Mexican assistant coach was the right man for the job, at least for this season.
With that said, Guardiola has been part of Manchester City since 2016, after a short time at Bayern Munich.
During his time with Manchester City, Pep Guardiola managed 593 matches, with 416 wins, 87 draws, and 90 losses. Also, the team scored 1,300 goals and won 20 trophies.
He gave the Citizens their first Champions League in 2022/23, after defeating Inter Milan in Istanbul.
