Mexico became the first team into the last 32 after beating South Korea, while Canada routed Qatar 6-0 but lost Ismaël Koné to injury on day eight of the 2026 World Cup.

According to Le Progres, after one week all teams had played at least one match and Groups A and B began their second round on Thursday 18 June 2026. Czechia drew with South Africa, and Switzerland beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1.
