World Cup: Flamengo rise to third for most Brazil call-ups | OneFootball

Brazil have named four Flamengo players for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, taking the club to 39 all-time call-ups and clear in third place among suppliers to the Seleção.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo had been tied with Vasco on 35, and the selections of Lucas Paquetá, Alex Sandro, Danilo and Léo Pereira broke the deadlock.

The ranking now reads, Botafogo 48, São Paulo 46, Flamengo 39, Vasco 35, Fluminense 32, Santos 25, Palmeiras 24, Corinthians 23, Atlético-MG 12, Cruzeiro 11.

The tally equals Flamengo’s record for a single edition after 68 years. In 1958, Vicente Feola called four club representatives, midfielder Moacir and forwards Zagallo, Joel and Dida.

Flamengo face Estudiantes on Wednesday 20 in the fifth round of Libertadores Group A, kick-off 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã. The match will be shown by Globo, GE TV on Globoplay and Paramount+.
