According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, 146 Norwegian Leeds United supporters have chartered a private flight for Saturday’s Wolves match at Elland Road, flying in on Friday from Kristiansand to Leeds Bradford. Some are making their first trip, others are regulars.
The 480-mile journey will be followed by club hospitality on Friday to launch the weekend.
A guided stadium tour is planned before dinner at their hotel and a reunion at the Scarborough Hotel pub. On Saturday they return to Elland Road, with Leeds having a chance to move nine points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
Terje Ulven, from Arendal near Kristiansand, says the area has a passionate Leeds following. Many hold season tickets and travel often, while a number on this flight will be seeing Elland Road for the first time.
Ulven joined a slightly smaller charter in 2019 to watch the Aston Villa match when Marcelo Bielsa told his side to allow a goal, a moment he recalls as surreal.
He attends around a dozen games each season from Norway and is among thousands who make the trip regularly. He chose Leeds as a child after picking a blue bag rather than the red one favoured by his Liverpool-supporting brother.
While acknowledging lean years and even a spell in the third tier, Ulven says the club and its English friends are welcoming. He is relishing the weekend and looking forward to Saturday.
