Eintracht Braunschweig and Dynamo Dresden failed to return to winning ways on matchday 5 of the 2. Bundesliga. However, both sides halted their respective losing streaks.
The hosts lost each of the last four games, including the cup tie against Union Berlin. They looked to record their first victory since the opening matchday 6-1 triumph in Magdeburg, but Dresden found a late equalizer through Thomas Keller, who returned from suspension.
Thomas Stamm’s men took the lead in the third minute with Robert Wagner’s first league goal since the 2023/24 season. A couple of minutes later, Braunschweig equalized through Maximilian Entrup, who finally got his maiden goal for the club.
Mehmet Aydin provided the assist for the ex-LASK striker before putting the hosts in front in the second-half. Keller’s goal secured a first stalemate of the season for both sides.
The end-to-end encounter was an afterthought to what happened before kickoff, though. A Braunschweig fan passed away on his way to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency in the stands.
